Our History

Atlantic topsoil and compost is a small privately owned family business established in 2001. Over the past 20 years, the business has evolved into producing premium organic compost. Our processing facility is located in a rural area in Kent County on approximately 8 acres which include of mixing, processing, and storing product.  we are within close proximity to forest by-products, a peat moss operation and shellfish processing plants. Our aim is to supply a superior quality product in order to serve new and existing customers.

If our compost is used right you will get the desired results from your crop! We perform annual soil analysis to ensure our premium organic compost is top quality! We also provide our proof of certification from organic certifying organizations.

material is made from all-natural inputs.

These inputs include shellfish by-products, peat moss, and forest by-products which make our premium organic compost and topsoil the better choice!

Seafood: Shellfish by-products which provide additional benefits to plant growth and health as it contains natural calcium, phosphorus and other valuable products like chitin. Chitin helps to improve the defensive mechanisms in plants, giving them a healthier immune response to pests and diseases.

Peat Moss: We use peat moss primarily for moisture retention quality within our compost. It also adds a very nice texture to the compost which makes it very easy to work with.

Forest: Softwood bark left behind from forest operations are added to our compost. We chose softwood bark instead of hay to reduce the chance of weeds and cross contamination from competitive species.

Fungal Biomass: Our compost provides a very high amount of fungal to bacteria ratio for the soil. It feeds the soil with the good bacteria it needs to enrich your soil. We have the tests available to show you upon request.
